What is downloading a video?

You might have seen a 'download' button if you other online video services like Netflix, BBC iPlayer, or Disney+

To download means to get media (like videos, photos, or apps) over the internet, so that it's on your device and ready to view.

When you buy one of our video downloads, you can normally watch it within minutes (depending on the speed of your internet connection).

There’s no need to wait for the postman to bring you a disc, because the video file arrives over the internet.

After downloading your video, you can watch it on a computer, tablet, smartphone, or even on your television.

I say "even", because some people are hesitant to try video downloads, thinking they won't be able to watch it on their TV – well you can! Here's how.

And just like a DVD, it’s yours to keep forever and watch as many times as you like.

Downloading is similar to ‘streaming’ services like YouTube, with one main difference.

With streaming the video isn't yours to keep, so you need to be connected to the internet each time you watch it.

That's why we offer downloads rather than streaming.
