DVDs have sold out, so Central is now download-only.
If you need a DVD, try the more recent Central Line instead.
Ealing Broadway to Hainault
Leytonstone to Epping
Epping to Ongar
A Driver’s eye view of London Underground’s Central Line filmed in 1992 from the old 1962 and 1960 stock trains.
Now replaced by the Central Line Driver’s eye view (filmed in high definition), the original Central was withdrawn from sale when DVD stocks ran out. However, due to popular demand, for those who didn’t manage to obtain a copy of the original on DVD, Video 125 is pleased to be able to offer the title as a digital download.
The route was filmed just before the total route modernisation. Running through the very heart of London, the Central Line boasted the busiest section on the whole Underground between Liverpool Street and Stratford, long before the 2012 Olympics was even dreamt of. By contrast, the Ongar branch was the least busy. Here we can see the branch in its last few weeks as a part of the Underground. In 1992, with the exception of the Ongar branch, all the trains were still operated by a driver and guard – long since consigned to history on the London Underground. Tunnel sections include additional but subtle lighting. A bonus is a driver’s view of the dead-end reversing siding at Liverpool Street.
