Shot by the major film studios from the 1930s to the 1960s, these railway scenes are unique. Railways from this era were never filmed in higher quality than on the standard cinema 35mm film stock.

Originally released by Video 125 on videocassette as two separate volumes, they are available individually to download or now combined onto just one DVD.

Volume 1

Highlights include trains out of Euston just north of the Euston Bank (1948), Paddington arrivals & departures (1939), Dawlish sea wall expresses (1939), the Waterloo main line at West Weybridge (1941), Salisbury Tunnel Junction (1959), an amazing driver’s eye view of Newcastle Station with an incredible array of semaphore signals (1930) Copenhagen Tunnel just north of Kings cross, taken for the feature film The Ladykillers (1955 in colour)  and dozens of miscellaneous runbys depicting all sorts of trains (usually whole trains, not just the locomotives as with amateur footage).

Volume 2

Highlights include fascinating arrivals and departures at Watford Junction in 1936, runbys on the East Coast Main Line in the 1930s, steam departures from the original Euston station in 1948, the Princetown Branch in the heart of Dartmoor in mid-winter just before closure (1955), Paddington around 1960 (colour) Glasgow in 1961 (colour) Waterloo (1965/67 in colour), out-takes from the Titfield Thunderbolt (1953) views from the Footplate, plus much much more!

See also volumes 3 & 4. All 4 come with  a commentary-off button* so that you can just hear the genuine steam soundtracks on their own.
